Presence: In Sync
Created in collaboration with Dasol Kim
Knitted Textiles, Digital Website, Prints, and Slouch Chair from Revive Design
In this information age, we are constantly dwelling in the digital world. We talk, search, share, watch and listen on our various devices: phones, computers, smart watches, voice assistants and more. As the digital interactions become the norm in this day and age, individuals grow personal relationships with the digital world. What is virtual gets embedded in the physical world and they start to become inseparable.
The computer language and the textiles structures are both representations of things generated by binary code. Presence: In Sync is a visual translation of the relationship between an individuals’ physical world and digital world, using computer language and knit patterns as mediums.
The audience is welcomed to participate in both digital and tactile interaction to get immersed in their feelings about the affect of digital world on their physical world. The digital interaction gives a space for the audience to reflect the affect and generate individualized patterns based on their responses. Along with it, there will be an interactive furniture piece with unconventional knitted upholstery for participants to cover themselves with. The knitted fabric reflects the patterns created with binary codes to visually show the responses in sync and translated from digital to physical.
When do you see the digital world affecting your day to day action/behavior?
